Anglers Quest 2011 Sam Rayburn Saturday 1st Series #4 out of The Umphrey Pavilion in Sam Rayburn, Tx began this event with 92 teamed anglers showing up to fish for the $6205.00 purse. Any team entering all 5 of the 1st series of Rayburn Saturday Series events will automatically qualify for the 2-day Sam Rayburn Championship. The top team in points will be declared the Team Anglers of the Year and will be awarded free entries to all 2012 Rayburn Saturday Series events. The teams entering all 8 Rayburn Saturday 1st & 2nd series events will automatically qualify for all 4 of the Lake Series 2-day Championships. The highest Top 10 points group of teams from the 2nd series of 3 events will also qualify to go to the 2-day Rayburn Championship. Any team qualifying for any A/Q Championship will be allowed to enter the "Tournament of Champions" on November 19-20 at Lake Palestine.
This event was started as a trailoring event at 6:45 am. Sam Rayburn water was in good shape and 7.70 feet below normal pool level with water temps running 64-66 degrees. The weather at takeoff was a calm 62 degrees with a warming to 84 degrees by weigh in time. The fish catching was good on Big Sam today as there were 36 limits brought to the scales, for a total of 182 bass at 488.59 lbs making the average bass brought to the scales today weigh 2.68 lb.
The team of Charles Bebber from Willis, Tx & Keith Caka from Magnolia, Tx ran their Ranger/Yamaha bass rig to the main lake creeks to sight fish spawning beds to finish in 1st with their best 5 bass that tipped the scales at 22.47 lbs. They had a limit in the boat early and then culled several more times throughout the day. Their day on the lake paid back $1900.00 for their efforts. The team of Marc Woolems & Butch Hollis from Jasper, Tx ran their bass rig to the main lake secondary points with grass to finish in 2nd with their best 5 bass that tipped the scales at 20.84 lbs. They had a limit in the boat early and then culled several more times throughout the day. Marc & Butch had a nice 6.98 lb kicker in their bag. Their day on the lake paid back $900.00 for their efforts. The team of Keith Worthy from Orange, Tx & Michael LaFleur from Orangefield, Tx finished in 3rd with 20.78 lbs and took home a check for $800.00. The team of Rusty Clark & Cory Rambo extended their lead for AOY by finishing in 4th with 19.82 lbs and took home $600.00. Derek Mong & Dave Mong finished in 5th with 19.30 lbs and had the Big Bass of the event at 7.14 lbs, they took home $550.00 for their efforts. There were 9 places paid in this event.
